Detail
In the production of nodular cast iron, it should be noted that the eutectic solidification of nodular cast iron is a typical paste solidification method, which has a process of primary (liquid) contraction, volume expansion and secondary contraction before solidification. During the solidification process, when the adjacent eutectic clusters contact each other, the iron liquid located in the gap between the eutectic clusters is isolated from the outside, resulting in a serious lack of carbon in the solidified iron liquid, and the shrinkage (that is, secondary shrinkage) generated by the solidification of this part of the iron liquid can not be supplemented, thus forming a microscopic shrinkage. Therefore, ductile iron will have many defects in the casting production, such as shrinkage hole, shrinkage loose, slag inclusion, subcutaneous porosity, etc., and it is easy to form batch scrap.
In order to ensure the product quality of ductile iron castings, it is necessary to optimize and control the casting process. For example, reasonable gating system and riser design, controlling casting temperature and cooling speed, adding alloying elements and other methods can be used to reduce the generation of casting defects. In addition, it is also necessary to carry out the appearance quality inspection of castings, sampling batch division and inspection rules, other inspection items, marking and quality certificates, and castings rust prevention, packaging and storage and transportation requirements.
